Not much of a breakfast cat.  Don’t like eggs, don’t eat bacon, hate milk, never had a cup of coffee.  Most of the time breakfast is a bowl of fruit and a couple veggie burgers sans bun with an ever changing line-up of sauces.  Weird?  Perhaps.  What happens?  Yes.  So it is with a bit of trepidation that The Monster heads over to The Bongo Room for breakfast.

It’s utilitarian ugly and that’s okay for breakfast.  Probably not a spot for a romantic dinner (which is perfect because they ain’t open).  So you’re coming here for comfort grub for breakfast/lunch.

Service is efficient enough and surprisingly there are a few things on the menu which The Monster wants to sample.   Not a pancake eater but white chocolate and caramel pretzel pancakes is hard to resist.  That along with some Thai chicken sausage sounds like a recipe for a heart attack so that is the call.

Shortly thereafter a pile of pancakes which could feed the entirety of Wicker Park arrive.  Decadent as hell, The Monster feels his arteries constricting with eat bite.  You need to share these bad boys with friends because no sane human will be able to put down this incredible amount of richness.

The sausages are fine, though the Thai part feels a little misleading here.  Probably would have been better with a little hot sauce.

Entirely full and still not a huge fan of breakfast, The Monster will admit he liked The Bongo Room just fine.

Now back to fruit and veggie burgers.

Why go?  Breakfast of champions.
