About the last thing you expect to see on a lonely stretch of highway in Hawaii is a 50’s style diner. But there it is, Back to the 50’s Highway Diner. The Monster must make a stop.
While only opening in 2004, this impressive ode to a simpler era is an impressive time capsule filled with fantastic memorabilia.
A butterscotch shake and a fried platter of onion rings, tots and fries is the order.
The 50’s were Papa Monster’s favorite decade so as Roy Orbison croons The Monster eats in his honor.
Nothing quite like hearing the blender whirring, the trucks roaring past on the highway and Johnny B Goode playing to bring you to that bygone time.
The food is exactly what you’d expect and that makes this a wonderful and nostalgic stop. Women, put on your Bobby socks and men dust off the broad-shouldered, double breasted suit…
Why go? You still own 45’s.
