Right after The Monster bemoans the lack of Greek/Med options on the Westside Creation Grill opens on Ocean Park to much initial acclaim from the Yelpers.
Perhaps The Monster has some sort of cosmic say in such matters. Can we get an amazing sushi restaurant near the ocean, please?
But back to Creation Grill. Blandly bad name aside, this is a handsome space of woods and brick that sports a counter order system of mostly indoor dining (two sad tables in the shade outside constitute the patio if you will). The menu is not here to revolutionize your feelings on this type of food and doesn’t reach as far as a place like Momed. Instead you’ll find a fairly typical selection of kabobs, falafel, wraps and salads.
That’s not to say they don’t do their grub well. Tomato soup, listed as the best in the city (it’s not) is still quite satisfying as a starter and the chicken kabob wrap with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, hummus, garlic sauce and rose sauce (spicy chipotle mayo) is a large portion and very satisfying for lunch.
The prices are right as well save the macaroons that feel like less of a bargain. They too however are tasty.
Given the location and the number of offices buildings within walking distance this fast has become a crowded lunch spot for the Dilberts. Now, is it destination dining for dinner? No. But if you are in the hood and want a meal that won’t break the bank but will happily line the stomach Creation Grill fits the bill.
So, about that sushi restaurant…
Why Go? You believe in creationism.
