REVIEW: SATTDOWN JAMAICAN

IMG_5885

There was a time when The Monster had dreads and lived in Kingston, Jamaica.  A far cry from today when he lives in Santa Monica and uses hair product.  But when given the chance, The Monster loves to chow down on some authentic Jamaican cuisine.  Enter Sattdown Jamaican.

In Studio City (a long way from Papine) is this homey space with a menu of island favorites.  Sit back as the reggae grooves and peruse the menu.

For The Monster, no Jamaican meal is complete without a patty.  Sattdown offers a few varieties and digging in on a chicken patty with some hot sauce brings the island flavor (and heat) to the fore.

For the main course, jerk BBQ chicken.  This is the sweeter, yet still burning cousin to regular jerk.  Along with some rice and beans you’ll feel the cool ocean breezes and wish you were on seven mile beach after a trip to Mrs. B’s for a little shroom tea.

Thanks to Sattdown for letting The Monster relive a bit of his youth.

Why go?  Every’ting irie.
