Simplethings is pretty much a perfect restaurant in The Monster’s eyes.  This is a casual place where you can get a fried chicken sandwich and a piece of pie.  This is a place with chicken pot pie and roasted tomato soup.  This is a place where pretty much the entire menu is something The Monster needs to eat.

It’s a cute little storefront on 3rd Street selling delicious homemade food and pies along with beer and wine.  This meal will not be part of your diet.  This meal will not make you feel good about yourself.  Who cares?

The fried chicken sandwich features free range chicken breasts, coleslaw, tomato, Tabasco mayo, on an onion focaccia roll.  Damn tasty.  Maybe not the best fried chicken sandwich on the street (Son of a Gun) but it’s pretty rocking.

And then the pie comes.  It’s a banoffee.  That’s banana and salted caramel.  It is ridiculous show delicious it is.  Almost illegal really.  Like they somehow made a pie and secretly added in addictive powder so that you think about getting a second piece.  You don’t, you have some small measure of self-control.

But you do decide you will be coming back for the chicken pot pie and another piece of pie.  Maybe the pumpkin strudel pie.  Or the key lime pie.  Or chocolate peanut butter.  And on second thought maybe you’ll get the chicken curry pot pie.  Actually, the pulled chicken sandwich with arugula, pickled onions, garlic aioli, chevre spread, chipotle bbq sauce on a pretzel roll.  It is there most popular sandwich.

Decisions, decisions.

Why go?  Simplethings make life not so simple.
