Perhaps one of the most enlightening moments of The Monster’s Indian trip is a visit to the Sikh Temple in New Delhi. Sikhs are clearly recognizable with their hair wrapped in a turban and long flowing beards. One of the beautiful philosophies of their teachings is the importance of philanthropy. Anyone may come to a Sikh Temple to eat and during meal time you will find rich and poor side by side on the floor sharing a meal.
The kitchen of a Sikh Temple is the nerve-center of this operation and volunteers, both Sikh and otherwise, give their time to prepare these huge meals. Vast cauldrons and giant earthen pots fill the giant room and huge portions of food are prepared.
It is often said that some of the best Indian food you will eat will come from the kitchen of a Sikh Temple.
