REVIEW: BHAIRO

IMG_5564

Rooftop of the Lake Palace Hotel sits Bhairo, a three or four course continental restaurant with amazing views of the City Palace.  Udaipur, more than any other city visited has real European charms.  You might even imagine you’re in Positano as the strains of Glenn Miller play and the houses twinkle in the distance.

With only eight tables and an entirely open rooftop kitchen this is a romantic destination unlike many others in India.

Onion regianno soup with lobster is the first course and is simple in preparation but long in flavor.

Lemon and mint sorbet for the palate comes next and is refreshing and tart.

Seafood nage with basa, scallops, shrimp and squid is the main dish and proves incredibly creamy goodness.

And finally sea salt caramel cappuccino tart, crunchy nut ice cream, frosted fruits is the dessert.  The ice cream is the highlight though the tart is nice as well.

Service is superb and while pricey, Bhairo is destination stop while in Udaipur.

Why go? Resplendent charms and a night off from tikka.
