On West Adams sits this unassuming Mexican sporting a few tables inside and out in a bright and festive room adorned with pinatas hanging from the ceiling and Mexican crooners serenading you as you wait for your food. On this day the joint is packed and Los Anaya does a brisk take-out business as well.
The menu is a greatest hits of Mexican cuisine and The Monster can’t wait to dig in. You might try some sopes, flautas, tortas or enchiladas. Perhaps a burrito or quesadilla is more to your liking. And of course there are soups and salads as well.
The order on this day is a pollo mole taco, a pescado taco with Veracruz cole slaw and a camaron taco with Veracruz cole slaw along with a side of guacamole. A watermelon agua fresca to wash it all down rounds out the call.
The mole here is truly wonderful. Rich, chocolatey, a bit spicy. Only Gish Bac does better in the city. The shrimp taco fairs equally as well. Crunchy fried shrimp and a delicious slaw make it a winner. With a squeeze of lime the fish tacos will have you dreaming of the beach in Mexico.
Best news of all, this deliciousness is attained without breaking the bank. Come here and try to spend more than ten dollars a person. Just try.
Why go? You have five dollars in your wallet and want a great meal.
