The last of The Monster’s meals in Cusco, Cicciolina is a second story (the balconies of Peru, indeed) Peruvian tapas restaurant in a beautiful red hued setting. The rich woods, candlelight, and upscale crowd make this a spot that would be equally at home in Los Angeles.
The Monster is bone tired. May in fact nap at the table. In lieu of witticisms and verbose prose, herewith is the damage done…
A trio of breads with olives and a rich, sweet tomato salsa.
Onion soup, a deep red wine colored soup from port, onions and gorgonzola toast points.
BBQ’d crisp octopus with Mediterranean salsa of roasted rosemary, tomatoes and garlic. With a salad of arugula, basil and Dijon vinaigrette.
Spongy not crisp, great flavor.
Peruvian scallops in shell bathed in buttery salsa of soy with ginger. Crispy garlic and lime.
BBQ’d calamari, prawns and scallops on a stick, drizzled with sweet and spicy chili sauce, accompanied by fresh mint, avocado and crisp rice noodle salad.
Risotto with scallops, calamari, prawns and a dash of whiskey.
Rich like Bill Gates in taste. Poor on seafood.
Why go? To eat. And nap.
