Red eye from LA to Cincinnati followed by a flight to Atlanta means The Monster hasn’t eaten in far too long.  He’s eyeing the airport Arthur Treachers with lustful envy and that’s when he knows with one meal in the city it’s off to South City Kitchen.

Situated in midtown this upscale Southern eatery is tailor-made for The Monster.  Things are about to get seriously unhealthy.

Starting off with some cornbread and biscuits served with jam and apple butter along with sweat tea and The Monster is ready to pitch in for the Confederacy.

And then the fried green tomatoes with goat cheese, pepper coulis and basil arrive.  My lord, this is heaven.

Here comes the buttermilk fried chicken with garlic collard green, bliss potatoes and honey-thyme jus.

Can’t forget some shrimp and red mule grits with poblanos and smoked tomato gravy.

And no Southern meal would be complete without glorious mac n cheese.

The Monster could wax rhapsodic about them all.  Instead he’ll use but one word:

Now, it’s dessert time.  And despite being a cardiologist nightmare The Monster goes all in for pecan pie and banana pudding.

It’s settled.  The Monster is moving in to South City Kitchen.

Why go?  10,000 cal meals are your norm.

I love South City Kitchen too. The fried chicken is amazing. Ditto the pork chop. And everything at brunch. And…ah, you get the point. Thanks for bringing back the memories!
