In the Belize City airport is the Sun Garden Restaurant. It’s a sad affair, the wan looking room offering little hope that the food is much more than edible but just as likely highly poisonous. But The Monster is hungry and the flight ahead is long.
Looking over the menu The Monster is…depressed, sad, scared. So, in the face of such odds the order today is…
…The grilled seafood combo. Fresh shrimp (doubtful) and fish fillets grilled to perfection (highly doubtful), topped with grilled onions, tomatoes, bell peppers and cilantro. It’s served with fries.
The first shock is the food is most certainly fried and not one of the vegetables listed is anywhere on the plate. The second shock is the seafood doesn’t taste horrible. Just bad. This is no doubt due to the magic of frying. If The Monster fried a dead skunk’s ass it would taste decent.
The fries luckily suck. Like truly, truly inedible. And that’s hard to do. Take a potato, fry it and succeed in making it horridly offensive. Mazel tov, Sun Garden, you have restored faith in The Monster’s belief in airport eating being a most futile endeavor.
With a flight looming there is no time to complain about the food, nor much time to care that service is nonexistent. At least it’s expensive. And nothing about it is sunny. Nor is their a garden. In fact, the entire place is hugely depressing.
Why go? There is no reason to whatsoever.
