REVIEW: LATITUDES CAFE

Like most of Belize, Latitudes Cafe is a beachfront shack with views of the ocean that isn’t much to look at from the outside.  It’s a few rickety tables, a high bar with stools and a cool ocean breeze.

The Monster spies a lobster wrap special and has to stop.  It’s his first taste of Belize outside the fishing resort he’s staying at.  Here’s hoping it’s good.

The menu is typical American tourist crap, chicken pesto wraps and classic roast beef sandwiches.  Doesn’t inspire much confidence.  In fact, it downright scares The Monster.  There is nothing comforting in eating bad versions of uninspired American food.

But a mangofest smoothie can’t be a bad call.  Mango and papaya deliciously blended up.  On a hot day (and it’s always hot) this will cool you down nicely.  Delicious.

As for the lobster wrap, it’s chock full of lobster, green peppers and tomatoes.  It’s absolutely wonderful.  Eating lobster on the beach is one of life’s great joys.  The Monster could do it daily.  A few times a day in fact.  He just might.

Why go?  Beach.  Sun.  Lobster.
